Introducing our Executive Team for the 2017-2018 Academic Year!
Jenna is a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce student returning for her third year on the Carleton DECA executive team, this time serving as the President. She is passionate about personal growth, teamwork, and facilitating the growth and success of others. As the President, Jenna hopes to make this year a winning year for Carleton DECA by facilitating insightful training sessions and providing the delegation with the resources they need to succeed. Jenna is honoured to lead the development of Carleton DECA’s delegation on their journey to becoming the leaders of tomorrow. DECA has been an amazing experience for Jenna throughout her time in University and her goal as President is to make this year a memorable one for Carleton DECA!

Megan is a second-year International Business student minoring in Spanish and is excited to be the Vice President of Operations for the 2017-2018 academic year. Whether it is in sports or other academic activities, Megan has always enjoyed being involved in teams and is a natural leader and motivator. Her goal is to implement her knowledge and skills to aid delegates and other executive members and to ensure that they have another successful and enjoyable year. She believes that DECA is a very beneficial extracurricular that allows you to develop many important skills, not only in business but in any field. She is looking forward to working and learning with the Carleton DECA team.

Mahek Gabra is in her third year of Sprott’s Bachelor of Commerce degree, with concentration in finance. She is beyond excited to be serving as the VP of finance for Carleton DECA this upcoming year. She is passionate about learning new things and challenging herself. She looks forward to catering to the chapter’s growth by establishing robust and sustainable financial controls through transparency and precision.

Chris is a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce student concentrating in accounting. This year he is excited to take on the role of Director of Corporate Relations. He is passionate about commerce and is determined to build a strong network within the business community to provide students with opportunities to strive in a professional environment. Chris believes that the impact we make and experiences we provide for students today will shape the quality of our professionals tomorrow.

Zack Gonneau is a second-year International Business student minoring in Spanish. Zack is very excited to be the Director of Corporate Relations for Carleton DECA this academic year. He is passionate about sports and believes that it takes a whole team to be successful and not just individuals. Zack is eager to start building his professional network and to dive head first into the business world.

Christiana is a second year Bachelor of International Business student studying German. She moved to Ottawa this year from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This year, she is looking forward to helping the Carleton chapter compete at the next level as a Director of Delegate Development! She is passionate about music, travel and trying new things. Christiana firmly believes in the importance of consistently seeking out new opportunities in order to grow in different aspects of my life; and DECA was the perfect place for me to do this! Christiana loves Carleton’s DECA’s chapter because it helps each and every delegate challenge themselves academically, grow their professional networks and develop important business skills that will help people be successful in the corporate world; all while having fun doing it!

Daniela Salcedo is in her second year of the Bachelor of Arts, Honours Law. She joined DECA in her first year in hopes of enhancing her knowledge in business, building larger connections and further developing her presentation skills. She will work as a Director of Delegate Development to fully mold personal growth and push others to persevere to their fullest potential. With her constant drive in empowering her colleagues, Daniela will strive to create a curriculum and a set of training strategies in order to ensure the entire delegation’s success, alongside her Co-Director, Christiana. She looks forward to sharing her passion for DECA with the rest of the team and encourages anyone to approach her with questions or concerns.

Tom Whyte is a third year Commerce student with a major in finance. He is passionate about self-development, constant forward progress, and assisting others to achieve their goals. After an exciting first year with DECA Carleton as a Delegate, Tom will return as a Conference Co-Chair. This year, he will be responsible for the logistics and execution of Carleton’s conference, while making other executive decisions alongside his team. He aims to make this Carleton’s best invitational yet by increasing attendance, quality and enjoyment!

Kamie is a third year Commerce student with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. Her creativity and endless amounts of energy has allowed her to succeed in managing various teams and be an active member of the Sprott community. Kamie joined DECA as it was a fun way to practice her presentation skills and meet new people. She is excited to help organize our invitational conference as it will allow students to learn new skills, network and build a firm foundation for their future goals and career paths.

Simera is a fourth year International Business student with a concentration in International Trade & Marketing and a minor in Spanish, just returning from her year abroad in Malaga, Spain. With a passion for fashion, arts and all things creative, Simera is more than eager to take on this role and explore that creativity further in relation to the DECA organization. After participating as a delegate before going abroad, Simera is excited to be involved with DECA in a more comprehensive manner as Director of Marketing, striving to handle and create marketing and communication initiatives that will exhibit all that this great organization has to offer to delegates and University students across Ontario.
